Over and over again, the Trudeau Liberals change the system to help those who have broken the law, while punishing law-abiding Canadians.

There is growing outrage over changes the Trudeau Liberals made to the vulnerable sector check program, changes which have made it easier for sex offenders to work around children and the elderly.

For certain jobs, such as working at daycares or nursing homes, individuals need a vulnerable sector check, to see if they have been convicted of a sexual offence for which they received a record suspension. The record suspension doesn’t erase the record, but it makes it much harder for people to discover.

When those checks are done by police, the police that conduct the check only know if a suspended offence came up, but they don’t know what the offence is. So, they must send it to the office of the Public Safety Minister, and the department then decides whether to tell the police about it. If the public safety department decides it’s not necessary to reveal the offence, the organization that conducted the check will get told that no record was found.

When that happens, it means that someone who is a convicted sex offender would appear to an organization as someone who had never committed a sexual offence.

Here’s where it gets disturbing:

Under the previous Conservative government, the public safety department notified police about suspended sexual offences 95% of the time. This means that sensitive organizations were able to know that someone applying to work for them had a suspended sexual offence record.

However, after the Trudeau government made changes in 2016, the public safety department is only disclosing suspended sexual offence records 38%.

Trudeau Liberals make life easier for criminals

As you can imagine, the Trudeau Liberals changes are a huge mistake. They have made life easier for those who committed crimes, while making things more dangerous for law abiding Canadians.

And the Trudeau Liberals don’t even have a good explanation.

A spokesman for Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale told CBC “In 2016, it came to the attention of officials that the criteria for disclosure or non-disclosure set out in the Criminal Records Act and the Criminal Records Regulations were being improperly applied.”

Of course, that is a total BS statement. The program was running fine under the Conservatives. The Liberals expect us to believe that all of a sudden they found a ‘problem’ and had to make changes?

I don’t think so.

They chose to make these changes, and it fits with their overall pattern of skewing the system in favour of those who have broken the law, while punishing those who follow the law.

We remember that this is the same government that let terrorists keep their citizenship, that are rewarding those who cross illegally at the expense of taxpayers and the expense of those waiting in line legally.

Now, some of the most vulnerable people in our society are being put at increased risk, all because the Trudeau Liberals want to give criminals a break.

It’s wrong, it’s disturbing, and it’s something all Canadians should stand against.
